28/10/2019 SCREENAGERS - GROWING UP IN A DIGITAL WORLD
Monday, October 28th at 6:30pm

On Monday 28 October Friends of Ballarat Grammar will host an encore screening of the documentary style film Screenagers. The screening will be followed by a Q&A style panel with panellists discussing topics around screen use including mental health, sexting, legal implications, cyberbullying and addiction.

Are you observing your children scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston had witnessed this with her own children and learned that the average teen spends six and a half hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time—friction she knew all too well.

In Screenagers, Delaney takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, Screenagers reveals how tech time impacts the development of children and offers solutions on how adults can empower them to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

Tickets: Adult $15.00, Child $10.00, Family (2 Adult . 2 Child) $45.00

16/05/2020 ADAM THOMPSON - BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY SOUNDTRACK LIVE
Saturday, May 16th 2020 at 8:00pm

When it comes to enigmatic front men, there are few that embody the power and passion quite like Chocolate Starfish’s Adam Thompson. He owns the stage, channels the music, and has audiences eating out the palm of his hand. So it is no surprise that when it came to picking his next great project, Adam chose to showcase the music of his hero Freddie Mercury and Queen in Bohemian Rhapsody the blockbuster movie soundtrack, live in concert.
Performing with the We Will Rock You band is a special coup for Adam Thompson, and for audiences. In 2002, Queen’s Brian May and Rodger Taylor hand-picked the band in Melbourne for their hit musical. Featuring Simon Croft, Andy Swann and Andrew Patterson, it brings special revelry to the evening.
